Ted

1) What is the TED organization about?
It is about this people how tell about very intresting things and to learn about things all over the world
2) What is the purpose of their website and how does the functionality of their site support that?
To make people learn more about the things that are happenning around us
3) As Engineers and Problem Solvers, which topic areas (the choices from the "Show talks related to:" section on the sidebar) are of most interest to us? Justify your answer.
Most jaw breaking or technlogy because we are trying to find way to solve problems and the more we know about jaw breaking we have less limits so we try bo
4) Based on your previous answer, what are 3 talks (videos) on the site that appear like they would be of most interest to you as an Engineer/Problem Solver? Justify your choices.
Robot that flies like a bird, the 8 billio i pod, the weird wonderfull bioluminescence. I thought they were very intresting subects that i could learn from
5) Each student will watch a unique video (clear your choice with me... first come, first served!). Watch the video. Embed the video in your blog post and create a bulletized outline of the key issues presented in the talk.
I think all of them  were prety good i think they can improve the time and make them a little bit longer
6) How could you get involved in the field/technology/issue you chose to hear about? What experience/skills/training/education would you need to learn to get involved with this field?
i think i need more time to

Khan Academy

i Think it was a really good feed back but i belive you can speed up the video and make it faster and focus more on the details
My video is about the heart
I think fliping the classroom would be perfect less work

Model Creation

1.- Why is it important to be detailed when documentingyour design?
Because if not you will have another side bigger that the other one and it will look differnent than the one yo are actually trying to do

2.-  When was the harder part of writing your step by step instructions or following your classmate's instruction? Why ?

3.- How is an object mass different from it's weight?
One is the the hole object and how much it is the area and lenght the weight is how much you weight with the gravity
4.- How does surface area different from area?
the surface is the perimeter

Skeches

Conclusion Questions
1. in order to make a wire coat hanger you could make a triangle and then use the fillet tool.
2. the feature to create a 3-D representation of a spindle that was created on a wood lathe would be the hole tool.
3. A 3-D solid model prgram keeps track of the changes that are made to and object by having you save things by sketches so that you are able to undo using the undo button or pressing Crtl+Z
4. if a mistake is made then you can undo it by using the undo button or by pressing Crtl+Z

Glider Challenge

1.-For that last couple of week Matt and i  have been working on a glider for our class engineering design. We have had many problems and things that we have had to overcome. One of the main things that we had to overcome was that  me and him had to constantly leave early on blocks day for soccer so we had to make up for lost time.
2.- The way that we tested our glider was we waited for a day with little to no wind and then we went out and tried it out but our wing broke off of our wing support and we had to fix that before the race
3.- On the day of the competition our plane did not fly very well because we wound the rubber band to tight and it ripped off and caused damage that could not be repaired and we did not win any challenges.  We also did not have a lot of time when it came down to the decorations.
4.- Define a problem: are problem with this project was the fact that we had to keep leaving early for soccer so we then had to find a solution

Select a approach: me and Matt’s idea to solve this problem was when we had time in class we would not get distracted and work for the entire period and try not to get distracted at any times to make good use of all the time that is given to us.
Refine the Design: we also used this step a lot of the time because are plane was in constant disrepair because with the test flight we had to repair the wing with tape because it was broken completely off and it was the day before the competition.

1.- What was the “Moneyball “approach that Billy Beane and Peter Brandt applied to the Oakland Athletics 2002 season? Was it an “art” or a “science”? What single statistic did they boil their value consideration down to?
They applied math and statistics from many players to make a really good team and not focus on a single player but either to focus on winning. I think it’s a science because you are using math you are not playing you are using statistics to play either watching a player play.
2. - What is the equation used to calculate OBP?
3. - What is design?
A plan or convention for the construction of an object or a system. A plan to see what your actions are going be and how to execute them.
4. - Describe 3 situations where movie characters (intentionally or not) applied a step from the PLTW 12 Step Design Process. Explain both the (a) situation as well as (b) how the step is relevant:
A) When he decides that they have not realized what the problem is so they cannot solve the problem.
B) Beings to solve the problem by hiring a young person how has another perspective in baseball and thinks he can make a better team by math
C) When Pete started searching players that nobody knew they were good
5. - What is “Leadership”? List the three aspects of leadership that we come up with in class.
A) Mr. Olson helping us become a better group and be a better team so we can learn better
B) Helping other people when they are having a hard time doing an assignment
C) Leadership is helping people become a better person by following the steps of a leader
6) Describe 3 circumstances from the story where a character exercised effective leadership:
A) When he did not show weakness when her daughter asked him if he was going to lose his job
B) When he fired as many people to make the coach change his mind and put the player he wanted to play in the position the GM wanted
C) When he came into the locker room and found the guys having fun and he made them realize that losing is bad
7. - According to the movie, what was the A’s record at the start of their winning streak?
Record 68:51
8. - What does this ratio simplify to (roughly)? ___: 1
1.333:1
9. - How long was the A’s record setting winning streak.
20 Games won
10. – Given the A’s win/loss ratio at the start of the streak (listed two questions above), what are the odds of winning 20 games in a row? Run the numbers.
.000013 This is the chance of winning 20 games in a row
11. – Based on your calculation, do you think the A’s got lucky or was there something to the Moneyball approach?
No they just made the necessary changes to turn a bad team into a really good team and they realized who the players who were not helping the team were
12.- Did Billy Beane strictly apply the “science” of Moneyball to his management approach? Was there an “art” to his efforts as well? Describe a circumstance where he broke from the Moneyball approach to make a positive change for the team.
Yes he used because he saw no other option to improve the team and thought it was a great way to improve the team. Yes. The moment he started hanging out with the players telling them what were their weaknesses and helping them improve them they started winning and became a better team.

Engeneering Ground Zero

The type of construction work featured in this video is they are going to try to build one of the most of the biggest building.    They are going to use concrete glass and steel to make is stronger than before. 2The aspect that I like is that they are going to build a memorial the spot where the twin towers were at and the reason why they are going to build a memorial were the twin towers.

Future Car

Future car is environmental and reliable practical and safe the car also store energy in small place. I think they will focus on the the car needs only need the energy of the tank and you don’t need gas.
Hydrogen instead of gas                Energy instead of gas
